STE has launched an SMD X1/Y1 safety ceramic capacitor series with a smaller package and higher capacitance.

A closer look at the 3225 option
Capacitance and dimensions vary by package. The 3225 datasheet specifies a 500 VAC Y1 rating, 10–2,200 pF capacitance and an operating range of −40 °C to +125 °C.

Planning a compact safety-capacitor layout
Surface-mount construction supports SMT assembly. Board design still needs to account for the land pattern, terminal spacing and required safety distances. For primary-to-secondary coupling, select capacitance from the insulation, leakage-current and EMI requirements.
